Routing and IP Packets go together like peanut butter and jelly. The router receives an IP packet and makes its routing decision based on the destination IP address. Policy Based Routing (PBR) can change all of that and allow you to turn your destination-based routing decisions into SOURCE-based routing decision – in other words, the router is now making its next-hop forwarding decision based off of where the packets ORIGINATED…not their destination!
