Cisco Launches New ‘Critical’ Career Certifications – It’s all about programmability!

It wasn’t too long ago that I posted some great resources for network engineers who are looking to become ‘Full Stack Engineers’ in the new era of programability ( http://wp.me/p6NUGQ-1D ). I also posited ( in my blog post on the recent Cisco layoffs http://wp.me/p6NUGQ-2q ) that the writing is clearly on the wall: Cisco is quickly moving in the direction of software-defined, programmable networks.

Fast forward to the April 6th announcement by Cisco of their new ‘critical’ career certification tracks:

1. Network Programmability Design and Implementation Specialist
2. Network Programmability Developer Specialist

Cisco has even added a ‘Programming for Network Engineers’ course to its lineup in the Cisco Learning Network store!

One thing is for sure, there is no coincidence that the word ‘Programmability/Programming’ is showing up everywhere…that and the word ‘Python’ I should say 🙂 Here is a great CRN article that provides some additional details:
