I love running Cisco’s VIRL on my MacBook Pro, but after a short two week break I ran into the following error that gives you the impression that the VIRL Virtual Machine (VM) wasn’t up and running. After a quick check, it was clear to see that it was up and running, but something was still wrong. I kept receiving the error: “Error Launching Simulation – java.net.ConnectException: Host is Down”. In this video tutorial I go over (and reproduce) the error I was receiving along with where I found the ‘trigger’ to the answer and the ultimate fix to the problem.
