Layer 3 Traffic Engineering with BGP: BGP Challenge #10 – Cisco Learning Labs

Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) policy manipulation is what Layer 3 traffic engineering is all about when it comes to BGP! Knowing how to “control” the egress flow of traffic using WEIGHT and LOCAL_PREFERENCE or trying to “influence” the ingress flow of traffic with AS_PATH prepending and the Multi-Exit Discriminator (MED) can make the difference between a good design and a “resume-generating design”. Check out this tutorial that walks through BGP policy manipulation and even shows you how to avoid becoming a transit Autonomous System (AS)!  Enjoy!

    1. Forrest, hello and thank you so much for the positive feedback! It is great to see that others are able to take away the information they need to move to the next level. It is comments like this that make all the time, effort, energy worth the effort. Thank you and all the best to you in your studies!
